At compile time, Nessus will prompt you for the activation code. After
that, nessus-update-plugins will work for updating plugins.

What about the announcement for 2.2.1 which says that if we register and
get an activation code we'll want to use the new 'nessus-fetch' command
line utility? Will it clean up, or will we need to delete the files
manually then?

Yes. You should not use nessus-fetch directly but nessus-update-plugins,
which does call nessus-fetch and cleans up after it.
