Updating Plugins During A Scan

Are there any issues/problems with udating plugins
while a scan is underway?

I created a cron job to update my plugins once a day,
but a scan could be running while during the time the
plugin update is scheduled and I'm not sure if that's
a problem...

The way that I see plugin updates work is like this:

  - nessusd is waiting for a connection
  - nessus-update-plugins gets called
  - nessus-update-plugins kills/stops nessusd
  - plugins are updated
  - nessus-update-plugins starts nessusd

Is that correct?
