bind() failed : Cannot assign requested address ??

Thanks for your reply George,

I have checked both that no instance of Nessus is running and that no other
process has this port open... that's what's got me so stumped

I think the error message you may be thinking of is

Bind() failed : address already in use

I cant find the answer yet,

Either another instance of nessusd or some other application has opened
the default port.
