What does it show with `netstat -ni`? Any interface errors?

What does it show in /var/log/messages? Any errors there related to your
network?

>From this report I have to suspect your machine or the specific ethernet
drivers. At this point I would not bother to find Nessus errors untill you
have checked the system inside and out for more basic issues.
